About me
I specialize in providing therapy for adults from my office in Winston-Salem, NC, and through teletherapy. Commonly, clients address topics such as depression, anxiety, trauma, life transitions, grief and loss, substance use, anger, and stress management.
I have always been social, and I naturally gravitated to helping others when young. Some of my roles are that of a daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, friend, and many more.

"Our lives, at times, feel like they are a gift and are full of joy. Other times our lives may feel like a struggle, we feel stuck, and maybe we even feel like a burden. All the while, our interpersonal interactions are changing and evolving over our life span, requiring us to adapt and change with what comes our way. It may be the young adult finding their place early in life, the middle-aged adult living life while sandwiched between generations, or the adult of older age navigating the world and relationships later in life. Working to accept life’s changes and the things we can’t control is a real thing. Still, we can explore what we need and, more importantly, how to ask for or obtain whatever it may be that brings us a sense of peace, purpose, joy, or happiness and a better balance in our lives." - Virginia
My Services
I offer individual counseling addressing client’s concerns when they feel they are not living life well or fully due to mental health or substance use concerns.
My approach begins with creating a supportive, strengths-based environment and spirit. Spirit being an immaterial force within a human being thought to give the body life, energy, and power. In combination I use Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Solution Focused Therapy, as well as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR).
I find it easy to be fluid in session. Meaning, using whatever comes up in session, or I may use a more directive approach as requested or needed in your care. I believe in nurturing self-worth and positive core beliefs. In addition, I feel that as part of therapy it is important to support all parts of our self. Including our spiritual self. I am open to learning more about the spiritual part of you and if you desire making that a part of your care and healing.

Effective psychotherapy requires a good match between client and therapist. During our first session or two, we will determine if I’m a good choice of therapist for you. If not, I will refer you to a therapist I believe can serve you better. I assume you wish to begin therapy because you desire specific changes in your life. I will do my best to help you achieve your goals, but I cannot guarantee any particular result.
“I cannot say enough great things about Virginia. With her sincere attention and guidance, I have learned how to manage my mental health through new perspectives better and just being nicer to myself! Virginia has genuinely helped change the trajectory of my life. She helped me recognize my own strengths, resilience, and confidence so much that I now know they are always there if and when I need them. She’s just the best, and I cannot thank her enough!” - Jennifer S.

I am currently in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield, Carolina Behavioral Health Alliance, Aetna, Cigna, United Health Care, and Medicare insurance. If I am considered out-of-network, you must pay me directly and apply for reimbursement from your health insurance company afterward.
Individuals sometimes prefer private pay. Please speak with me if you need to pay privately or want to understand potential reasons for private pay.
“Virginia is attentive, invested, creative and consistent in her approach to therapy. It is the first time I have experienced impactful results toward a healthier and happier lifestyle with a therapist after many years of trying. She is continually learning and passionate about her job and is actively present at every appointment." - A Current Client
